If it is chosen as a \u201cwilling host community\u201d, all of Canada\u2019s irradiated nuclear fuel could be buried in a Deep Geological Repository in an ancient limestone formation under the town. It is one of two candidate sites being studied by the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) for this purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">On January 31, 2020, the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON) nixed another DGR &#8211; planned to hold all of Ontario&#8217;s radioactive reactor wastes OTHER than irradiated fuel.
