She also serves as advisor to the\u00a0<b><span style=\"color: brown;\">Great Lakes Health Effects Program<\/span><\/b>\u00a0of Health Canada, and to the\u00a0<b><span style=\"color: brown;\">Environmental Assessment Board of Ontario<\/span><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bertell Directed the\u00a0<b><span style=\"color: brown;\">International Medical Commission &#8211; Bhopal<\/span><\/b>\u00a0which investigated the aftermath of the Union Carbide disaster in Bhopal, and of the\u00a0<b><span style=\"color: brown;\">International Medical Commission &#8211; Chernobyl<\/span><\/b>, which convened the Tribunal on violations of the human rights of victims in Vienna, April\u00a0<small>1996<\/small>.<\/p>\n<p>She has received numerous awards and five honorary Doctorate degrees since launching the\u00a0<small>IICPH<\/small>\u00a0in\u00a0<small>1984<\/small>.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bertell is a member of the\u00a0<b><span style=\"color: brown;\">Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart<\/span><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bertell earned a Doctorate in Biometry at the Catholic University of America, Washington,\u00a0<small>DC<\/small>, in\u00a0<small>1966<\/small>, and has been working ever since time in environmental epidemiology. She has collaborated in analyses undertaken in the\u00a0<small>US<\/small>, Canada, Japan, the Marshall Islands, Malaysia, India, Germany, Ukraine and other countries.<\/p>\n<p>Author of\u00a0<b><span style=\"color: brown;\">Handbook for Estimating the Health Effects of Ionizing Radiation<\/span><\/b>\u00a0(<small>1984, 1986<\/small>) and the popular non-fiction book:\u00a0<b><span style=\"color: brown;\">No Immediate Danger: Prognosis for a radioactive Earth<\/span><\/b>, together with more than a hundred articles, book chapters and poems, Dr. Bertell has reached medical, scientific, and popular audiences around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>No Immediate Danger, has been translated into Swedish, French, German and Finnish.
