Bruce Power planned to ship 16 radioactive steam generators through the Great Lakes and Sty. Lawrence to Sweden for “recycling”, each weighing 100 tonnes. Despite obtaining all necessary approvals, the shipments never happened because of massive public opposition. The First Nations — especially the Mohawks — played a particularly important role in stopping these shipments.
