On November 5, 2020, Dr. Gordon Edwards addressed the South Bruce Community Liaison Committee (CLC) on issues related to the transport, repackaging and burial of irradiated nuclear fuel. The CLC was established to consider the possibility of South Bruce becoming a “willing host community” to receive all of Canada’s high-level radioactive waste for interment in a Deep Underground Repository (DGR) under the direction of the Nuclear Waste Management Agency (NWMO) representing the nuclear waste producers: Ontario Power Generation, Hydro Quebec, and New Brunswick Power Corporation.
